To develop the projects you need to work and balance the total Project Portfolio. It is needed to take into account e.g. resources, other projects in the pipeline, overall targets etc.

The important question is will the company make money in the long run

  resorses...)
 
- Usally you have a budget restraint on what you invest in projects developing
  new solutions

- In managing the Portfolio it is needed to take into account all ongoing

o know if there are resources to start the project and how fast this
  project can be delivered
