Empathy

Empathy

Empathy is your ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and feel compassion for their experiences.

To unerstand and share the feelings, thoughts and perspectives of others.

There are three main types of empathy:

1.  Cognitive empathy – Understanding someone else’s

     thoughts and perspectives.

2.  Emotional empathy – Feeling what others feel as if their

     emotions were your own.

3.  Compassionate empathy – Not just understanding and

feeling, but also taking action to help.

Examples:

-  Comforting a friend who is upset as well as showing support, but also
  understanding the feelings they have.

-  Ability to put ourself in His/Her shoes.

Empathy is essential in social interactions,

leadership and conflict resolution because it

improves communication, strengthens

relationships and fosters kindness toward others.
